Islander Dana Sipos has been nominated for multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, including Songwriter of the Year and Pushing the Boundaries- yes, that’s a category!
Sipos is a Canadian folk singer who weaves fragments of stories, myths, and dreams into songs that map heart and country and all the spaces in-between.
Her music has been described as ethereal and bone-chilling. One UK music critic wrote her music was “Delicate, slightly strange and completely mesmerizing.”
Never one to submit to average standards, Dana has developed a particular flare for touring by alternative means–tall ship, bicycle, and even canoe!
How very west coast!
Her latest critically-acclaimed album, The Astral Plane, is out now and explores the imprints of memory, cycles of grief, and the deep connection between inherited trauma and the ecological crisis of our time.
Currently nominated for “Solo Artist of the Year” by the 2022 Canadian Folk Music Awards, Dana continues to stun with her wholly unique sound.
She delights and charms, and she’ll stop you in your tracks.
