Who says white men can’t rap?

Comox Valley rapper makes VanIsle hip

Buckle up and go on a musical island tour with Oktiv6

White boys can lay down some tracks.

Well, I guess Eminem, the Beastie Boys and Macklemore, for starters. But how about Oktiv6?

This ginger-bearded good old homeboy sent VanIsleNews his recently recorded hip hop homage to everything  Vancouver Island?

The track is called Courtenay Love (get it?)

The talented local rapper calls the song a tribute to his island family, and it’s like a lyrical road trip around VanIsle.

From Sayward to Nanaimo and Comox to Tofino, no geographical stone is left unturned. There’s even a nod to Whiskey Creek (try finding that one on the map.)

Oktiv6 also sprinkles in tasty references to familiar Island pastimes like tubing rivers, flyfishing, standing in the middle of a Merville hayfield (well, maybe not,) hockey, boating on the Strait of Georgia, and on it goes.

He loves his Vancouver Island home, and it shows.

Check it out. It might be the most entertaining 4 minutes of your day.
